Study Support Program for Athletes of National Interest
LCU Academic Coach is a project created in order to meet the request of the Academic School for for Undergraduate and Graduate Activities of Link Campus University, for the purpose of establishing a program dedicated specifically to the athletes enrolled into any kind of Degree Course.
The Dual Career project
The LCU Academic Coach project is currently experimenting the ‘Dual Career’ academic plan. The aim of this new concept of study is to promote the compatibility between sports careers and university studies, making it possible to conciliate academic curricula with competitive training.
The LCU Academic Coach project supports the athletes during their learning pathway, thanks to a series of learning interventions specifically dedicated to the 'athlete students' , and to a series of corrective measures pre-adapted to the educational activity, and implemented through periodic plannings affecting the individual choices and organizational aspects of the students' career.
The students will be supported by:
- an Academic Tutor, who will help them to plan their educational pathway, and support them in the choice of optional examinations, and in the choice of curricular and/or extracurricular internships, and post-graduate internships;
- An Angel, who will moderate a monthly meeting between the student and the Academic Tutor.
Sport Placement
The experts of LCU have devised an experimental placement program specifically dedicated to athlete students enrolled in any type of Degree Course.
The aim of this new project, named Sport Placement, is to create connections and professional opportunities between high-profile companies and institutions (Institutions of the sector, Sports Clubs, Professional Studies and Managers) and the athlete students of LCU.
Who is the LCU Academic Coach project addressed to?
- to athlete students already enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree Courses, Master’s Degree and Single Cycle Master’s Degree (regardless from the academic curriculum chosen, and not necessarily enrolled in the sports study plan ‘Sports Economics and Policies’);
- to athlete students who intend to enroll in Link Campus University and join the Italian National Sports Federations (FSN) or any International Sports Federation, and the Sports Promotion Bodies (EPS) affiliated to the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), engaged in national or international competitions such as, for example, National Championships, European Championships, Mediterranean Games, Universiade, World Championships, Olympic and Paralympic Games;
- to former athletes, who intend to enroll at Link Campus University, and have completed their career in competitive sports and have then registered as sports technicians at the National Sports Federations (FSN) or at an International Sports Federation and at the Sports Promotion Bodies (EPS) affiliated to the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), who also have participated to national or international competitions such as, for example, National Championships, European Championships, Mediterranean Games, Universiade, World Championships, Olympic and Paralympic Games;
What are the objectives of the Academic Coach Project?
- To encourage the participation of the athlete students to the didactic activities in specific periods, consistently with their competitive engagements;
- to encourage the 'dual career' in the periods of the year characterized by an intense sports activity related to athletic preparation and competitive training. LCU AC provides for the integration of exercises and structured tutoring activities tailored to the athlete's needs;
- to ensure adequate practical support, including digital support;
- to agree on recovery dates for exams - subject to the availability of individual teachers - in case of reasonable absences of the athlete students due to important sporting commitments related to the preparation for competitions and to the participation to sports events on a national and/or international scale;
- to provide organisational support to the athlete students. The constant presence of a dedicated Academic Tutor will help the students plan their educational pathway, and support them in the choice of optional examinations, and in the choice of curricular and/or extracurricular internships, and post-graduate internships;
- to create connections and professional opportunities between high-profile companies and institutions (Institutions of the sector, Sports Clubs, Professional Studies and Managers) and the athlete students of LCU.
