The Doctoral Course (Ph.D.) represents the highest level of academic qualification within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), corresponding to Level 8 of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). It is a third cycle programme intended for individuals who hold a second cycle degree (master's degree) and wish to undertake advanced scientific research and contribute to the production of original knowledge.
The LINK Doctoral School is a structured, research-oriented institutional framework designed to promote the training of high-profile researchers with strong analytical skills, critical thinking, methodological rigor, and openness to interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary approaches. The School is committed to the principles of scientific integrity, internationalization, inclusiveness, innovation, and social relevance.
The doctoral training offered by LINK is consistent with:
- the principles expressed in the Salzburg Recommendations (European University Association – EUA, 2005; Salzburg II, 2010);
- the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (European Commission, 2005);
- the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area – ESG, ENQA, 2015);
- and national regulatory frameworks, including Ministerial Decree N. 226/2021of the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), which defines the criteria for the accreditation and organization of doctoral courses.
The doctoral programs offered at the LINK Campus University Doctoral School aim to:
- develop advanced research skills that can be applied both in academic and in non-academic professional contexts;
- promote the co-production of knowledge through collaborations with universities, research centers, public institutions, businesses, and civil society;
- contribute to the Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) agenda and the open science ecosystem promoted by the European Union (European Commission, 2016)
- respond to social challenges in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the European Commission's strategic priorities under the Horizon Europe programme.
