DAMS - Audiovisual and theatrical production - L3

The aim of the Bachelor's Degree Course DAMS – Audiovisual and theatrical production is to train creative professional figures in the world of performing arts, cinema, theatre and audiovisual production. The course is aimed at students who want to acquire solid theoretical practical skills required  to operate in a national and international context, with particular focus on the cultural and technological transformations that are re-shaping the sector.

The educational offer, established in direct dialogue with the cultural industries and the Academic research centres,  merges humanistic knowledge and technical-creative workshops from the very first year, guaranteeing a comprehensive, up-to-date and spendable preparation for the world of work.

The course is articulated into a single course of study - Audiovisual and Theatre Production, which allows for the construction of a flexible and versatile professional profile. The structure is designed to accompany students throughout an integrated pathway between theory and practice, with a strong emphasis on laboratory experience.

MODALITY OF FRUITION

The course provides for non-compulsory attendance of lessons. Furthermore, in order to meet the diverse needs of students, the lessons are video-recorded and made available on digital platforms in asynchronous mode. This additional opportunity allows students to organize their study and revision times independently. Theoretical teaching is complemented by practical and professionalizing activities: workshops, internships and visits to companies, public bodies and institutions in the area. These field experiences make it possible to develop concrete operational skills and to come into direct contact with the world of work already during the course of study.

Filmmaker - Integral creator of audiovisual content

The Filmmaker profile is designed to train a professional figure capable of managing all phases of audiovisual production, from writing to post-production. This professional figure is a creative technician, capable of combining an artistic vision with a solid mastery of digital technologies, production dynamics and the narrative needs of the sector.

During the learning pathway, the student acquires competencies in:

  • Writing of subjects and screenplays for film, TV, web and branded content
  • Directing actors and actresses
  • Filming, lighting and image management
  • Video editing, post-production and sound design
  • Set management and production dynamics

Filmmakers will find employment in film and television production companies, advertising agencies, creative start-ups, digital platforms, multimedia publishing, web agencies and as freelance videomakers.


Theatre Maker – Live performance professional

The aim of the learning pathway is to train a modern performer, capable not only of performing, but also of independently devising and developing artistic projects for theatre and live performance. An active figure in writing, staging, directing, but also in cultural promotion and management.

Among the skills developed are the following:

  • Contemporary dramaturgy and playwriting
  • Theatre direction and stage management
  • Design of performance events
  • Management and promotion of live performance
  • Creation of multimedia content for theatre

The theatre maker can work in theatre companies, cultural centres, arts organisations, festivals, local public authorities, but also within educational projects, hybrid multimedia productions and in the communication of cultural events.


Expert in cultural communication and promotion

Thanks to their cross-cultural training and knowledge of cultural dynamics, graduates can pursue careers in the field of cultural communication and creative marketing, with roles such as:

  • Press and media officer for cultural institutions
  • Social media manager for arts institutions
  • Curator of digital content and cultural podcasts
  • Press office for cultural events, festivals and theatres
  • Project manager for cultural calls and funding

Trainer and cultural operator

The course also prepares to work in cultural mediation, training and educational design, in museums, schools, libraries, associations and foundations:

  • Designer of theatre and audiovisual workshops
  • Cultural operator for the third sector
  • Expert in visual and performance education

The course supports students through 4 different types of tutoring:

  1. tutorato di orientamento e trasversale, svolto dal Referente didattico, che affianca lo/la studente/essa nelle fasi dell’accoglienza, dell’inserimento nella vita universitaria, nel monitoraggio del percorso di studio e della motivazione (avendo sempre a riferimento i risultati pianificati), del supporto all’espletamento delle pratiche burocratiche (in collaborazione con le segreterie);
     
  2. Orientation and transversal tutoring, carried out by Education Coordinators, aimed at supporting the students in the reception phase, introducing them into the university life, monitoring their learning pathway, motiving them throughout the course (with special reference to the planned results), supporting them in bureaucratic procedures, the latter in collaboration with the Student Administration Office;
     
  3. international tutoring, carried out by the International Office, which wil offer personalized assistance to both international students enrolled in the degree course and Erasmus students;
     
  4. didactic tutoring, provided by the didactic support staff (teaching assistants, doctoral students, holders of supplementary teaching contracts, etc.), who will support the students with supplementary teaching activities related to the specific subjects of the learning pathways;
     
  5. specialized tutoring, carried out by Education Coordination for inclusion, aimed at students with disabilities or specific learning disorders and special educational needs, aimed at reducing the obstacles that might prevent their full integration in the academic environment.
