In 2001, Cristina Stasi graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Rome, Italy. In 2006, Dr. Stasi specialized in Gastroenterology at the University of Pisa, Italy. From 2006 to 2009, she participated in clinical research projects at the Careggi University Hospital in Florence, Italy. At the same time, Dr. Stasi improved her knowledge in study design, management of clinical research projects, statistics, and epidemiology. In 2013, she earned her PhD in Experimental and Clinical Medicine at the University of Florence, Italy. Until 2023, she worked at the MASVE Interdepartmental Hepatology Center, Department of Experimental and Clinical Medicine, University of Florence and Center for Research and Innovation CRIA-MASVE, Careggi University Hospital, Florence, Italy. From December 1, 2023 to November 23, 2024, Dr. Cristina Stasi had a position as a Temporary Research Fellow at the Department of Medical, Surgical, and Neuroscience Sciences, University of Siena, Siena, Italy. Since 2013, she has been working as a freelancer at the Epidemiology Unit of the Regional Health Agency of Tuscany, Florence, Italy.
She achieved the National Scientific Qualification as Associate (2017) and Full professor (2018) for the disciplinary field of skin, infectious, and gastrointestinal diseases in the Italian higher education system, and even as Associate (2019) for the disciplinary field of Technology and methodology in medicine and nursing sciences, and as Associate (2022) for the disciplinary field of Internal Medicine.
She has established national and international collaborations in gastrointestinal research.
Her skills and expertise include non-invasive assessment of liver fibrosis, clinical epidemiology, viral hepatitis, liver diseases, and gut-brain and liver-brain bidirectional connections.
She is the author of 103 scientific publications, most of which were published in peer-reviewed journals in these fields (source from ResearchGate). Scopus H-index = 31
She is on the list of the Top Italian Women Scientists.
