Demetrio Panarello is an Associate Professor of Political Economy at the Department of Human Sciences, Link Campus University.
He previously held the position of Senior Economist at Prometeia, where he focused on public policies for the climate transition, households' resilience to economic and financial shocks, energy performance of buildings, climate risk management and circular economy innovation.
His research experience includes positions at the University of Bologna and the University of Udine, where he mainly worked on the economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the statistical evaluation of a regional program for the promotion of physical activity and well-being. He also served as a Scientific Expert at the Université du Luxembourg, collaborating on projects examining the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He holds a Ph.D. Europaeus in Economics, Statistics and Sustainability from Parthenope University of Naples, where he discussed a dissertation on the mitigation of climate change through human behavior, and previously received a Master's Degree in Actuarial and Financial Statistics and a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics from the University of Messina.
He has a prolific publication record on a wide range of topics, including sustainable energy and behaviors, job-market discrimination, estimation theory, project evaluation and individuals' mobility. His research has been featured in prestigious journals such as Physica A, Environmental Science & Policy, Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, Energy Policy, International Economics, Journal of Environmental Management and Socio-Economic Review.
He carried out reviews for numerous scientific journals and was appointed Guest Editor of the collection "Energy Sustainability, Vulnerability and Resilience" by Springer Nature. Moreover, he is a member of the Editorial Board of the International Social Science Journal (John Wiley & Sons).
He presented his research at several seminars and conferences and is actively involved in various national and international research groups addressing critical issues such as economic inequality and environmental policy.
At Link Campus University, he is committed to making impactful contributions to the understanding and resolution of contemporary socio-economic challenges. Outside of work, he is an enthusiastic traveller, a technology lover and a movie fan.
