Marta Gibin is Associate Professor of General Sociology (SPS/07). Her research interests are mainly focused on the intersection of health, technology and society, with a particular interest in the impact of artificial intelligence on healthcare and care relationships.
In 2022, she attained a PhD in Sociology and Social Research from the University of Bologna with a dissertation on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the care trajectories of cancer patients. In the post-doctoral period, he worked as a research fellow for the Horizon 2020 ONCORELIEF projects: “A digital guardian angel enhancing cancer patients” wellbeing and health status improvement following treatment' and Horizon Europe MAMMOth: “Multi-Attribute, Multimodal Bias Mitigation in AI Systems”.
Since 2017, she has been collaborating with the Governance & Social Innovation (GSI) Centre of the Ca' Foscari University Foundation in Venice. She is the editorial coordinator of the journal Salute e Società (Health and Society) and a member of the Scientific Council of the Sociology of Health and Medicine section of the Italian Sociological Association (AIS). She is also a member of the Centre for Advanced Studies on the Humanisation of Care and Social Health (CeUmS) at the University of Bologna.
