Dr. Salvatore Caponnetto is Associate Professor of Internal Medicine (SSD MEDS-05/A) at Link Campus University since April 2025.
He was attained the National Scientific Qualification Level II in Internal Medicine in June 2024.
Professor Caponnetto is a medical doctor specializing in Oncology and is currently Medical Director at the Villa Margherita private nursing home, where he also serves as head of oncology prevention and integrated home care projects.
He received a medical degree with honors in 2011 at the University of Catania. He completed his residency in Medical Oncology with honors in 2017 and his PhD in Experimental Medicine in 2020 at the University of Rome Sapienza.
He completed a Fellowship from October 2016 to February 2017 at CCIT (Center for Cancer Immune Therapy) at Herlev Hospital in Copenhagen working on cell therapy and immunotherapy with focus on melanoma and genito-urinary cancers.
He was a Research Fellow in 2021 at UOC B of Medical Oncology at Policlinico Umberto I in Rome, where he carried out research and clinical care in the field of uro-genital neoplasms and pulmonary neoplasia.
He was a Type A Fixed-term Researcher (RTDA) from 2021 to 2024 MED/06 (Medical Oncology) at the Department of Radiological, Oncological, and Anatomo-Pathological Sciences, University of Rome Sapienza, and carried out research on prognostic and predictive factors in patients undergoing immunotherapy treatment.
He was listed as an expert advisor for AIFA in 2017.
He participated as Co-investigator in several clinical trials.
He has served as a CTU (court-appointed technical consultant) at the Civil Court of Messina.
He is a member of leading national and international scientific societies in medical oncology (AIOM, ESMO, ASCO)
In September 2024, he was awarded the Special Mention for Excellence in Health Care and Clinical Research during the Rome future week event - Cybersecurity and Cyber Legality Award.
He authored about 40 international indexed scientific publications.
