Walter Matta is extraordinary professor of Computer Science at Link Campus University since 2017. He has considerable experience in research and development in Aerospace, Security and Defence.

In 1994, he graduated with honours in Electrical Engineering at the University of Cagliari. After a brief experience at the University of Cagliari, in 1997 he joined Vitrociset S.p.A. , where he held various management roles (resp. area of international organisations, scientific director of S3log, director of the Corporate R&D Center, Director of Strategy, Innovation and Government Funding and member of the Steering Committee). From 2022 he joined Leonardo S.p.A as Vice President.

He holds and/or has held various national and international positions:

  • Member of the Board of EOS - European Organization for Security
  • Member of the Board of ECSO - European Cyber Security Organization
  • Member of the Board of SFT - Critical Soft Target and Critical Infrastructure Protection
  • Member of “Cabina di Regia per l’Automazione Aerospaziale” della Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri
  • Member of “Cabina di Regia Ministero della Difesa – Regione Autonoma della Sardegna per le Servitù Militari”.
  • Member of International Advisory Council dell’Istituto Strategico Italiano Niccolò Macchiavelli
  • Vice President of the Sardinia AeroSpace District (DASS)
  • Member of the Technical Committee of the Aerospace District of Campania(DAC)
  • Member of the Steering and Strategic Management Committee of the National Transport Cluster 

In 2012 he was rewarded by Minister Profumo for the best project PON 2007-2013. He is coordinator and scientific supervisor of various national and international research projects, and authored/co-authored many articles and publications.
