Alessio Gili is associate professor of General and Applied Hygiene (MED-42). PhD in Mathematical and Statistical Methods for Economic and Social Sciences. He attained a degree in Economic Sciences with a quantitative focus from the University of Perugia. As a biostatistician, he is a member of the Ethics Committee of the Region of Umbria and of the Phase 1 Study Unit of the Perugia Hospital. Member of the faculty board of the doctoral program in Clinical and Molecular Medicine at the University of Perugia.
Since 2013, he collaborated with the Umbrian Population Cancer Registry dealing with cancer epidemiology and participating in numerous research groups nationally and internationally.
His research interests have focused on the application to population data of flexible parametric models, spatial analysis and multilevel models for the study of health inequalities.
Furthermore, he collaborated in the field of toxicology on addiction studies in at-risk populations and, in clinical epidemiology, on studies evaluating diagnostic tests and survival analysis and prognostic models in oncology, hematology, neurology and microbiology.
Author of numerous scientific articles with more than 1000 citations internationally (H index Scopus 16, Schoolar 19) in prestigious journals such as Scientific Reports, Leukemia, Journal of Infection and Public Health, Genes, International Journal of Cancer.
He serves as Senior Reviewer for the journal BMC Medical Research Methodology and Plos One and as Topic Editor for the Journal of Clinical Medicine as well as Statistical Officer of the journal Scenario and Associate Editor of the journal Frontiers in public health.
Professor in several master's degrees for Data Analyst, Data Scientist and Data Engineering in Machine Learning (ELIS Consortium, Polytechnic University of Marche, etc...), he has been using Statistical R and Stata software at an advanced level for many years.
