He graduated in Medicine and Surgery and specialized in Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health. He is Associate Professor in General and Applied Hygiene (MED/42) at the Department of Life Sciences, Health and Health Professions, Link Campus University (Rome) since 2024. He teaches general and applied hygiene, health services management and evaluation, quality of care, health information systems, and digital health. He is interested in public health, territorial and hospital health organization, health needs assessment, and health policies and strategies.
He has collaborated with the Health Services Policy and Evaluative Research Unit of AUSL of Romagna since 2022. He has been Affiliated with the Institute of Cognitive Science and Technology of the National Research Council (CNR). He has collaborated with the Innovation in Health and Social Services Sector of the General Directorate for Personal Care, Health and Welfare of the Emilia-Romagna Region since 2023.  His work focuses on several crucial areas in public health and health services: Health Services Research, Implementation Science, management and organization of health services, epidemiology, prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases, and innovative technologies supporting health systems. He is a medical device expert, particularly in clinical evaluation according to MDR/MDD for several MDN codes, including software-as-a-medical-device.
He holds 2 patents related to medical devices and has authored more than 100 scientific articles, including more than 80 indexed on Scopus and publications in Q1 and Q2 level journals in the fields of public health, epidemiology and health services research, and digital technologies.
In 2022, 2023, and 2024, he was included in the prestigious list of the world's “top 2% of Scientists” compiled by Stanford University.
