Gisella Decarli is Fixed Term Researcher in Developmental and Educational Psychology at Link Campus University.
She graduated with honors in Developmental and Educational Psychology at the University of Padua. She then attained a PhD in Psychological and Educational Sciences at the University of Trento, focusing on numerical cognition in young children and the cognitive processes underlying developmental dyscalculia. During her academic career, she was a research fellow at national and international institutions. In particular, she was a research fellow at the Department of General Psychology at the University of Padua, at the Integrative Neuroscience and Cognition Centre (INCC) at the Université Paris Cité (France) and at the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Trento. She has also had multiple visiting experiences abroad, including at the Université Catholique de Louvain la Neuve (Belgium), the University of Washington (Seattle, USA), and the University of Pittsburgh (USA). 
Her research activities focus on typical and atypical development, with particular attention to cognitive processes during childhood, Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), and numerical cognition in children. Her research activity aims to explore the cognitive and neural bases of learning, integrating different experimental methodologies (visual habituation/preference paradigms, visual perception tasks, EEG, eye-link). Her most recent research interests include the role of emotions in school learning processes and the relationship between motor, emotional and cognitive skills in development.
She is a member of the editorial board for international journals and a reviewer for indexed scientific journals, including Child Development, Developmental Science, Psychological Science, Journal of Experimental Child Psychology and Plos One. She authored several articles published in peer-reviewed international scientific journals and presented her work at major national and international conferences. 
Finally, she collaborates with numerous national and international organisations on projects concerning the cognitive and neural development of children/infants with typical and atypical development: University of Trento, Université Paris Cité (Paris), Foniatrics Medical Centre (Padua), A.S.P.S. Beato de Tschiderer (Trento).
