She graduated in 2004 in Medicine and Surgery at the Second University of Naples (now named University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli). Licensed to practice in 2005.
In 2010, she attained a Specialization Diploma in Infectious Diseases at the Second University of Naples. In 2013, she obtained a Degree in Pharmacological Sciences and Clinical and Experimental Medicine at the Second University of Naples.
In 2019, she obtained the National Scientific Qualification to the positions of Professor of Second Chair for Competitive Sector 06/D4, Disciplinary Scientific Area MEDS 10B (MED17) Infectious Diseases.
She has held Research Grants and Fellowships at the Second University of Naples. Expert for the disciplinary sector Med/17 at the Second University of Naples . In this capacity, she has participated in the Infectious Diseases examination committees for the Degree Course in Medicine. Winner of several competitions for public notice and co.co.co at the Second University of Naples.
In 2017 she became Fixed-term Researcher (RTDa) at University of Padua. In 2020 she became Fixed-term Researcher (RTDb) at University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli.
In March 2020, she was appointed Medical Director of the COVID 19 Task Force, at the Department of Infectious and Tropical Diseases, University Hospital of Padua.
In 2022, she became Fixed-term researcher at the University of Padua. She has been teaching infectious diseases at the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery, at the Degree Course in Obstetrics, and at the Schools of Specialization in Infectious Diseases and Rheumatology, conducting the related examinations as course leader.
Member of the Doctoral College in Life and Health Sciences at the University of Camerino from May 2020 to present. Doctoral dissertation evaluator and dissertation counter evaluator.
Her research activity is mainly related to Infectious Diseases. This is evidenced by numerous publications reviewed on Scopus. In particular, her research activity is focused on the following topics: - Acute and chronic liver virus infections (HBV, HCV, HDV): virological aspects and complications including hepatocarcinoma. - Bacterial or viral infections in the patient with or without hepatopathy. -Diagnostics and respiratory microbiota in patients with COVID 19. -Antibiotic therapy in immunocompromised patients (HIV, transplanted). She coordinated or participated in the activities of numerous multicenter research groups characterized by national and international collaborations on various topics.
She has participated in numerous Third Sector activities . Collaborated on the Patent for blood-based diagnosis of Salmonella, NASH and NALFD. Participated in numerous Clinical Trials developing experience in conducting Phase II , III and IV Clinical Trials.
Co-author of chapters in Infectious Diseases Handbooks.
She organized and participated in numerous scientific conferences in Italy and abroad as a speaker. She co-authored numerous refereed oral communications in international and national conferences. She presented numerous refereed poster presentations at international and national conferences.
She earned several awards for her scientific activity and numerous grants. She attained a certificate of merit at the Scientific Days of the Second University of Naples in the Doctoral session.
She is currently a reviewer in leading international journals in the field.
She is a member of the editorial board of the Journal Pathogens. She is a member of the editorial board of the Journal Infections in Medicine, official organ of the Italian Society of Infectious and Tropical Diseases (SIMIT) from 2018 to present.
Member of the Special Interest Group on Hepatocarcinoma (as an expert in viral pathology of the liver) of the Italian Association of Liver Study (AISF). Member SIMIT - Italian Society of Infectious and Tropical Diseases. Member Italian Antimicrobial Stewardship Group (GISA). Member Italian Association for the Study of the Liver (AISF).
She carries out clinical activity on inpatient wards and is in charge of the outpatient clinic for antiviral therapy (Hepatitis B, Delta, C), particularly in pluritreated patients with resistance and for the management of complications of chronic hepatitis virus infections (cirrhosis, HCC). She has been owner of the outpatient clinic “Hepatic elastometry.” She has also been involved in the management of septic and HIV patients in the immigrant population at the Division of Infectious Diseases and Viral Hepatitis of the Second University of Naples also under professional collaboration contracts. She coordinated various clinical trials ( phase II, III and IV) of new active antivirals against hepatitis C and B. She carried out activities of monitoring and reporting HCV,HBV,HIV viremia (PCR) in patients on therapy, HCV genotypes and clinical consultation to colleagues requesting the above tests; Screening and validation of organ donor eligibility for major infections (HIV,HCV, HBV, CMV and WNV), at the Laboratory of Microbiology and Virology at the University of Padua; performed activities at the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery and Transplantation at the University of Padua as a consultant for patient infections in pre and post liver transplantation and in hepatocarcinoma patients.Activities at the Department of Infectious and Tropical Diseases, Azienda Ospedaliera di Padova as a contracted Medical Director where he performed outpatient divisional infectious disease activities and infectious disease consulting activities at the departments of the Polyclinic and the Emergency Room.
