Dr. Giuseppina Catanzaro has been a Tenure Track researcher at Link Campus University since December 2023. Dr. Catanzaro did her PhD at the University of Teramo, working on the endocannabinoid system, focusing in particular on the action of the endocannabinoid system in oncology. She was subsequently the winner of an international selection announced by the Bracco Foundation and worked as principal investigator in a project focused on the study of cancer cell metabolism. From 2014 to 2023 she worked at the Department of Experimental Medicine at Sapienza University of Rome dealing with molecular and clinical aspects of different human diseases, ranging from solid tumors of children and adults to metabolic diseases. Specifically, she focused on the role of noncoding RNAs both as therapeutic targets and as diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive biomarkers.

Dr. Catanzaro has authored 58 publications in international peer-reviewed journals with H-index 24 and a total citation count of 1646. Furthermore, Dr. Catanzaro has authored 20 publications as first or co-first author and 5 publications as corresponding/co-corresponding or last/co-last author (Source: Scopus).

Dr. Catanzaro's scientific interests include:

1. Analysis of molecular mechanisms involved in the development and growth of solid tumors, with special interest toward pediatric brain tumors;

2. Study of molecular mechanisms responsible for therapy resistance in solid tumors;

3. Identification of diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive biomarkers, with emphasis on the role of microRNAs as biomarkers of diseases;

4. Study of innovative nanodelivery systems for drug therapies and RNA drugs.
