Luigi Fattore is Associate Professor of Molecular Biology, at the Department of Life Sciences, Health and Health Professions at Link Campus University in Rome. He previously served as public health researcher at two IRCCSs in Italy: Regina Elena Cancer Institute in Rome and the National Cancer Institute “Fondazione Pascale” in Naples. Dr. Fattore received his Ph.D. in Experimental Medicine at Sapienza University of Rome in 2015, with a final dissertation that focused on the use of monoclonal antibodies against tyrosine kinase receptors as melanoma therapy.
During his doctoral and postdoctoral periods, Dr. Fattore spent two periods on research collaborations at The Ohio State University, in the laboratories directed by Prof. Carlo Croce.
Dr. Fattore's research activity is mainly related to the study of mechanisms of resistance to drug therapies in cancers, particularly melanoma. In this area, the major research focus has been on the identification of microRNAs as new therapeutic and diagnostic tools in melanoma.
Dr. Fattore has authored 32 publications published in international journals, including 16 as lead author (first, last or corresponding); furthermore, he is co-inventor of two internationally approved patents. Dr. Fattore participated as a speaker of scientific presentations at various national and international conferences. Some of said contributions have received the award for best oral or poster presentation.
Dr. Fattore was also responsible for research projects funded by Lega Italiana per la Lotta ai Tumori, the Lazio Region and the Pasteur Institute Italy, Cenci-Bolognetti Foundation. Finally, during his postdoctoral period, he received research grants provided by the Italian Association for Cancer Research (AIRC) and the Umberto Veronesi Foundation.
