Maddalena De Maria, Associate Professor of General, Clinical and Pediatric Nursing Science (SSD MED/45) at Link Campus University.
Previously, she was researcher and research fellow at the Department of Biomedicine and Prevention, at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, where he attained a PhD in Nursing Science and Public Health.
She taught Nursing Science and Research Methodology in various italian and international universities, such as Università degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Università degli Studi di Bologna, Università degli Studi del Molise, and Catholic University Our Lady of Good Counsel in Tirana (Albania).
She has clinical and nursing coordination experience in oncohaematology and advanced cancer surgery.
She coordinated and coordinates several research projects both at a national and international level and authored several international publications.
She won the prize for the best research in Nursing Sciences awarded by the Italian Society of Nursing Sciences.
Among her scientific contributions, her most recent articles address topics related to how the patient-caregiver dyad experiences and copes with chronic illness and have been published in the International Journal of Nursing Studies, Journal of Advanced Nursing, Journal of Clinical Nursing and Value in Health. Her conceptual and methodological contributions, which are innovative for nursing and dyadic family care science, have led to the development and validation of tools to measure self-care behaviour as well as knowledge about the care needs of patients and caregivers in the context of multiple chronic illnesses. Her research interests include the topics of self-care and the contribution of family caregivers to the care of chronic diseases of the elderly addressed with a dyadic and international comparative approach.
She has more than 60 international scientific publications and numerous presentations at national and international congresses.
She is President of the Associazione Culturale Alumni Ph.D. Nursing & Public Health at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
She is vice-president of Associazione infermieristica transculturale.
She is a member of Junior Policy Officers of the European Specialist Nurses Organisation
She is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Joanna Briggs Institute - Centre of Excellence for Nursing Research.
