Prof. Marco Angelini is Associate Professor in Computer Engineering at Link Campus University.
He attained a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Rome Sapienza, Department of Computer, Automatic and Management Engineering, defending his doctoral thesis, titled "Predictive Visual Analytics: dealing with Situation Awareness, Prediction and Forecasting" with a final grade of Level A ("Excellent," top 5% - 25%). Previously, he studied Computer Engineering at Sapienza University of Rome, where he received his master's degree.
He was a researcher at the Centre Cyber-Intelligence and Security, University of Rome Sapienza.
He is a member of the CINI Cybersecurity National Laboratory (https://cybersecnatlab.it/), where he coordinated national projects with the aim of strengthening an organization's cybersecurity status, both in the public and private sectors.
He co-authored the 2019 edition of the "National Cybersecurity and Data Protection Framework." (https://www.cybersecurityframework.it/) and of the related cyber risk assessment methodology. He coordinated the "CyberReadiness.IT" project on assessing cyber security awareness within an organization.
He is a member of the AI Commission established by the Department of Information and Publishing of the Prime Minister's Office.
Prof. Marco Angelini was a research consultant for the EU H2020 Project. "ECHO: European network of Cybersecurity centres and competence Hub for Innovation and Operations" where he worked on the creation of a Federated Cyber-range Network for the improvement of cybersecurity training activities and governance models.
Prof. Marco Angelini coordinates the Link Campus University unit for the projects EDF FARADAI on the study of frugal AI techniques and the Horizon Europe RESILIENT- TRUST Project on securing processing chains for SMEs and strengthening digital sovereignty.
His main research interests include Cybersecurity, specifically focused on designing solutions for cyber defense of critical infrastructure, security governance modeling, and cyber risk assessment. Artificial Intelligence (AI), and in particular the branch of Human-Centered AI, which focuses on the study of interactions between humans and AI, including explainability (XAI). Visual Analytics, the process of combining information visualization, user interaction and analytical computation to solve heavy computational problems, with the overall goal of increasing situational awareness and supporting decision making.
As a result of his research activity, Prof. Marco Angelini has published more than 72 papers in international peer-reviewed conferences and journals.
