Ingrid Reverte is a Professor in the Department of Life Sciences, Health, and Health Professions at Link Campus University in Rome.

Previously she has held a researcher and teaching position (Physiology) at Sapienza University of Rome. She started her career at the University Rovira i Virgili in Tarragona, Spain, where she obtained her B.Sc. in Psychology and defended her PhD in Neurobiology. She then moved to Columbia University as Postdoctoral Research Scientist and to Brooklyn College, City University of New York, where she worked as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist and Adjunct Professor (Neurophysiology) at the Department of Psychology.

Her research focuses on the neural and molecular foundations of synaptic function and plasticity and its significance in learning and memory. Currently, she is primarily investigating the role of microglial cells in regulating synaptic plasticity and cognitive functions under both physiological and pathological conditions. Additionally, her work
explores how factors such as drugs of abuse, social interactions, and stress affect synaptic plasticity and the neural circuits that govern behaviour.

She has publications in prestigious international scientific journals such as Brain, Behavior and Immunity, PNAS, British Journal of Pharmacology, Glia, Neuropsychopharmacology and Experimental Neurology, and serves on the Editorial Boards and ad-hoc reviewer of leading scientific journals. She has established successful collaborations with researchers from prestigious academic institutions worldwide and has been invited to present her work at universities and international conferences. She has served as both principal investigator and researcher on numerous competitively funded research projects.
