Purpose

Nutrition and eating disorders (NED) (anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder, nutrition and eating disorders with other specifications, nutrition and eating disorders without other specifications) are characterized by persistent changes in eating behaviour (aimed at controlling weight and body shape) with significant repercussions in clinical terms, psychosocial functioning and quality of life. The prevalence and clinical and social severity of EDs are increasing and have a negative impact on the health of the population.

Although obesity is not considered a DNA disorder, it has recently been recognised as a separate pathology involving the eating behaviour and psycho-physical-social health of those affected.

Adequate training is essential in this field, which is often subject to interference from the mass media or inadequately trained professionals, in order to achieve early diagnosis and a highly professional diagnostic and therapeutic approach. Integrated multidimensional and multidisciplinary training is an essential prerequisite for improving prognosis and reducing the psychological, clinical and functional complications associated with these conditions if they are not properly addressed.

Target audience and career opportunities

The Master is aimed at professionals interested in acquiring advanced skills in the fields of nutrition and eating disorders and obesity, following a multidisciplinary and integrated approach that combines theoretical knowledge, clinical experience and innovation.

  2. develop communication and collaboration skills among professionals with different backgrounds, promoting teamwork and multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary integration;
  3. provide useful tools for the early identification of risk factors and initial signs of nutrition and eating disorders and obesity, in order to promote timely, targeted and effective interventions;
  4. raise awareness of the different levels of care (outpatient, day hospital, psychiatric hospitalization, medical hospitalization, residential rehabilitation) by illustrating their characteristics, indications and methods of use;
  5. develop planning skills for the implementation of prevention, information and treatment interventions aimed at children, adolescents and adults, as well as parents, teachers and caregivers on the subject of nutrition and eating disorders and obesity;
