Purposes
The aim of the II level Master in Intelligence and Security is to give the candidates the opportunity to compete with the professional challenges characterizing the intelligence and security area. The geopolitical transformations characterizing the post-globalization phase, the role of the emerging and re-emerging powers, the growing economic and environmental constraints, the political and social impact of the technological revolution, are creating an innovative and risky mixture of traditional and new "hybrid threats". The pervasiveness of the technological processes characterizes today's "digital societies" profoundly changing the operational contexts of the intelligence activities and determining a new connection between Public and Private dimension, Homeland Security and Foreign Policy, Civil Affairs and Military Affairs. The strength, speed and fluidity that accompany the technological revolution produce uncertainty and instability everywhere, but the impact of new technologies varies according to the cultural traditions and political regimes of individual countries. In this respect, open societies take the greatest risks: the State of Law, the separation of powers, personal freedoms, free press, secrecy of correspondence, the protection of intellectual property and scientific research, the rights of the individual, the very pillars of democracy can be overwhelmed by the 'technological tsunami' and foreign interference. In the face of such threats, democracies have begun to react by deeply strengthening and reorganising their intelligence and 'defence' capabilities in both public institutions and the corporate world. Operators in intelligence and security, process analysts and experts in risk analysis are in increasing demand by organizations responsible for National Security, by the institutions operating in the European and Atlantic areas, as well as in sectors of the Public Security, Defense Departments, critical infrastructures, companies, research centres, both in the public and private sectors.
