Gender Budgeting

Gender Budgeting

Gender Budgeting (BDG) is a strategic analysis and guidance tool, essential for any university aiming to promote effective equal opportunities policies with a view to gender mainstreaming, understood as “the systematic consideration of the gender perspective and therefore of the differences between women and men in terms of points of view, conditions, situations and needs in all policies and actions” (EIGE). The BDG does not merely provide a representation of the presence and distribution of genders within the academic community, but represents a continuous process of reading, evaluating and improving the organizational, educational and professional dynamics of the University.

The document allows for the identification of critical issues, progress and areas for intervention, guiding strategic planning in a structured manner and contributing to the definition of policies consistent with national, European and CRUI standards.

In a growing organization such as our University, the BDG plays a fundamental role in consolidating an institutional culture that is attentive to equality, transparency and fairness, through the shared work of collecting, analysing and interpreting data by all members of the academic community.

Objectives

Collect and analyze gender-related disaggregated data on teaching staff, technical-administrative and students, to assess the presence and equal distribution of gender in all sectors of the university.

Periodically assess the effectiveness of the measures taken through gender budgeting and monitor progress towards the effective realization of gender equality within the university.

Support the University's strategic planning by integrating the gender perspective into planning documents (Strategic Plan, Performance Plan, PIAO, P.A.P., GEP).

Promote informed decision-making through up-to-date, comparable gender indicators that can be used by administrative structures and governance bodies.
