Title: CIAK-EU! - EU-rope through films: History, Identity, and Policies
Duration: 36 months
Start date: 01/09/2022
Finish date: 31/08/2025
Description:
The Chair establishes a new mandatory university course on EU (history and politics) within the framework of the Bachelor's Degree Course in Film and Theatre Making at Link Campus University (LCU). Ciac-UE! is composed of various modules for research, teaching and communication. It is based on a multidisciplinary unit of research and experimentation and an articulate and innovative system aimed at teaching and communicating the history as well as the process of european integration and EU policies through the cinema and the audiovisual world. The JMC is experimenting a new direction in european studies, involving students from other degree courses through activities of training-seminars and a summer school, and collaborates with other universities involved in JM projects. CIAK-UE! brings together various fields of expertise through the language of film, TV series and documentaries to provide an original approach to the study of EU-rope by promoting academics and public debate on the future of the EU. The JMC is a combined research/teaching/communication system that will evolve through research and debate over three years, at the end of which it will become an integral part of the LCU curriculum, innovating teaching methods in EU studies. The JMC will involve various partners who share these interests in research, teaching and public debate, thus structuring a new narrative-communicative mode for EU history and politics. CIAK-EU! also aims to reach outside the LCU and its academic network of partners to interact directly with civil society, the world of entertainment, film and art in general, as well as the communication and policy sectors. Finally the JMC will organize a series of events on the topics discussed in order to disseminate the result of the research through various products, tools and collaborations with studies centres and agencies specialized in EU communication

Title: FreeBeRI - Freedom of Belief and Right to Information
Duration: 36 months
Start date: TBD
Finish date: TBD
Description:
FreeBeRI aims to enhance EU studies in the curriculum of the Master's degree in Political Science and to introduce them for the first time as a compulsory teaching in the curriculum of the Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences at Link Campus University. Its added value lies in the fact that, in an innovative way, it will develop the transversal potential of EU Studies by showing their relevance in the fields of Religious Studies. Its main focus is on the mutual reliance between freedom of religion and freedom of expression and information, treating as two deeply intertwined topics: EU policies on misinformation and disinformation, with particular reference to the links between religion and conspiracy theories; EU international policies on the promotion and protection of freedom of religion, contextualising them within the global historical process of de-secularisation.
FreeBeRI strengthens critical thinking skills as fundamental tools of active European citizenship. Its teaching method is based on the analysis, contextualisation and interpretation of different types of sources and, in doing so, teaches the fundamentals of the 'historical craft' as tools for recognising, analysing and debunking conspiracy theories as well as understanding the reasons for their success.
FreeBeRI carries out a series of research and dissemination activities for which the students collaborate with key actors in the construction of a European research space within the field of religious study. Said actors not grant the high quality of the research and teaching activity, but also provide an international research network for FreeBeR, ensuring the impact on other european education and research institutes.
FreeBeRI efficiently promotes the dialogue between the academic world and the society through a series of seminars and workshops aimed at secondary school students with Cesue-Euractiv.

Title: Emergency theatre: the recovery of traditional acting techniques in the contemporary scene
Duration: 3 months
Start date: October 2022
Finish Date: December 2022
Description: Training project on the actor's practice of traditional popular theatre, which is currently almost lost in academic training, with acting centred entirely on action, where improvisation, pantomime and acrobatics coexist, where the actor's body once again becomes the centre of action, where improvisation and writing merge in the theatre of the living word.
The project aims to provide a response to the current limitations, which have led to a distancing between young people and theatres, and is developed through expressive, liberating, emotional workshops based on the techniques and tricks of the Commedia dell'arte, which became popular in a context of audience disruption and distancing.
In the light of the negative impact of COVID on the world of theatre and the actor-public relationship, the actor specialisation workshop based on interaction between theoretical, technical and practical moments is aimed at bringing young people closer to traditional folk theatre in order to create new ways of disseminating live performance within the community, despite restrictions.
The aim of the project is to create a modern profile of actor-spectator, capable of restoring live performances to their former status in the socio-cultural life, starting out from the past, precisely with the discovery of stage techniques and tricks and a comparative solid knowledge of the techniques of Commedia dell'Arte.
The courses are organized by professors specialized in the field of entertainment, in the cloister of Casale San Pio V.
Calendar (October - December 2022):
- Comedy workshop (30 hours)
- Basic techniques of commedia dell'arte (30 hours)
- Dramaturgy of structured improvisations (30 hours)
- Creative work on the character (40 hours)
- Public speaking: improvisations (40 hours)
- Stage Tension (30 hours)
