Lorenza Parisi is Associate Professor of 'Sociology of Cultural and Communicative Processes' (SPS/08) at Link Campus University where she coordinates the Bachelor's Degree Course in Innovative Technologies for Digital Communication (L-20) and teaches 'Internet Studies', 'Social Media Management' (L-20) and 'Network society' (LM-59). She is scientific director of the 1st level Academic Master in 'Social Innovation and Digital Transformation' and a member of the scientific committee for the implementation of the Gender Equality Plan.

She is deputy PI and coordinator of the 2022 Link unit "Pratiche digitali, genere e intimità nella vita quotidiana delle/degli adolescenti".Lead partner: University of Padua, Prof. Marco Scarcelli. Furthermore, she coordinates the Link unit of the PRIN 2022 PNRR "Gendering Internet. Violence, resilience and empowerment in digital spaces". Lead partner: Sapienza University of Rome, Prof. Mariacristina Sciannamblo.

She has been a visiting student at HIIT Helsinki and the Media Lab at MIT (Boston, USA). Her research activity is mainly related to the study of social relations mediated by digital media. She authored various publications in international and national journals.

Her main research interests are the following:

  • use of digital media as expressive and relational tools in relation to gender and sexuality;
  • study of digital algorithms;
  • social media and health communication;
  • digital media and experience of place; location-based media;
  • civic participation and political activism through digital media;
  • use of social media by government, businesses, brands.

She has acted as consultant for public agencies and businesses on digital communication strategies since 2006.
