Safety Science (L/DS)

In such an increasingly unstable world, threatened by new and complex dangers - such as international terrorism, hybrid wars, organised crime, climate change, pandemics and cyber attacks - the need to train a new generation of security professionals is strongly emerging. The Bachelor's Degree course in Safety Science, activated at the Naples and Rome branches of LINK Campus University, was created precisely to meet such a crucial need.

We are talking about a modern and strongly interdisciplinary educational pathway, designed to provide students with the theoretical and practical tools required to understand, face and manage the challenges of security in the 21st century, at national, European and international level. It is a degree that looks far into the future, ideal for candidates who aspire to become an active part of the future ruling class of the country and its institutions, or to hold positions of responsibility in institutions, agencies, companies and organisations dealing, in various capacities, with security and defence.

A COURSE DESIGNED FOR THE CHALLENGES OF THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE

Nowadays, a sectoral preparation is no longer enough: transversal skills, a strategic vision and adaptability are needed. The course is directed by Prof. Francesco Paolo Tronca, a figure with a very high institutional profile (former Prefect of Rome), and coordinated by Prof. Tommaso Paparo. The training contents have been developed in so as to integrate different areas - legal, economic, sociological, psychological, technological and political - offering an all-round understanding of defence and security issues.

The learning pathway will range from urban security to cybersecurity, from international crisis management to civil protection, from intelligence and counter-terrorism to the protection of public and private property, and environmental and food safety. Furthermore, the course will have a operational focus thanks to workshops, project work, seminars, simulations and direct testimonies from professionals in the field.

MODALITY OF FRUITION

The course provides for non-compulsory attendance of lessons. Furthermore, in order to meet the diverse needs of students, the lessons are video-recorded and made available on digital platforms in asynchronous mode. This additional opportunity allows students to organize their study and revision times independently. Theoretical teaching is complemented by practical and professionalizing activities: workshops, internships and visits to companies, public bodies and institutions in the area. These field experiences make it possible to develop concrete operational skills and to come into direct contact with the world of work already during the course of study.
