The aim of the Bachelor's Degree course in Safety Science is to provide methodological, professional, cultural and social knowledge and skills, by providing an interdisciplinary learning pathway focus on the legal, economic, psycho-sociological and technical fields.
The educational offer is aimed at students who wish to deepen their training in the areas of public and private security for the protection of the strategic interests of the Italian Republic and the European Union, responding to the ever growing demand for specialized professionals in the field of defense and security.
The Degree Course in Safety Science combines theoretical and practical knowledge (workshops and masterclasses) with operational didactics.
Students may choose between 2 different learning pathways: Internal and External Security, and Economic and Financial Security, dealing with different aspects of the same subject, such as terrorism; mafia; economic, cyber and transnational crimes; offences against the person or the property and figures of criminal relevance; crime scene examination and intelligence operations.
Method of attendance
- Frontal lessons: frontal lessons in mini-classes of maximum 25 students, to be carried out at the Rome branch.
- Live streaming: the students may attend to the educational activities from their own devices, regardless of their location.
The students may choose the live streaming method for a maximum of 2/3 of the overall activities.
The recordings of all activities implemented through the live streaming method are also available at a later date, as a complement to the student's training.
EDUCATIONAL PATHWAYS
Internal and External Security
Upon attainment of the Degree title, the students will be able to carry out functions related to public security (preventive or judicial police activities, coordination, management and control of territory both at a national and international level, with regard to the fight against internal crime and international organized crime), private security (security consultant in companies with interests in countries at risk), international cooperation (monitoring of security and peacekeeping interventions, conduction and coordination of impact analysis of security policies, conduction and coordination of analysis of the needs of populations receiving humanitarian aid, conduction and coordination of analysis of violations of the rights of populations receiving humanitarian aid).
Career opportunities
In the public sector, the graduates of the course will be able to join the armed forces, the police force and all careers related to the defense of national and international interests, after passing the relevant public competition, where applicable.
In the private sector, the graduates of the course will be able to work, assuming command or coordination roles, in the field of private security, or for non-governmental organizations dedicated to humanitarian activities. The aforemention occupational sectors are in constant growth, thanks to the constant demand for professional figures with interdisciplinary skills on national and international security are required.

The Economic and Financial Security learning pathway is a direct response to the ever-growing public and private demand for specialised professionals in the field of defence and security, a little-explored area of training in the Italian university system. Furthermore, the course is an excellent choice professionals who wish to deepen their training in the fielf of protection of the strategic interests of the Italian Republic, the European Union and private/corporate security.
