Link Campus University presents its first digital currency

The engagement with cryptocurrency and its underlying record-keeping technology appears to be ever growing. Link Campus University couldn’t be left behind in this great global engagement. On Wednesday, Jan 24, LCU presented its own cryptocurrency LinkCoin and distributed it among its students and guests. In doing so, LCU joined a growing list of global higher education institutions which have embraced the digital currency.

LinkCoin was created in the Link Campus University Research Centre directed by Dr Carlo Maria Medaglia. As of today, anyone can use LinkCoin to purchase some gadgets for Android and iOS. In the future, the goal of the developers is to accept cryptocurrency for tuition and other fees in the university.

LCU first digital currency was presented at the conference Blockchain: The Past, Present and Future held in the Antica Biblioteca in the Maner of San Pio V. Cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, the tax treatment of Bitcoin, and much more were discussed at the session with the participation of Dr Vincenzo Vespri, University of Florence, Dr Piergiorgio Valente, Prof. of EU Fiscal Law and International Tax Law at LCU, Dr Carlo Maria Medaglia, Rector for Research at LCU, Dr Salvatore Rapuano, Prof. of Criminal Law at LCU, Dr Walter Matta, LCU.
